The texts this study draws on, and what each one governs. Scripture text and versification are anchored to the Covenant Christian Edition on scriptures.info; the King James (LDS) edition is the comparison baseline; the Joseph Smith Translation references corroborate where changes are marked.
Primary & reference sources
- Covenant Christian Edition (CCE) scriptures.info — Old / New / Modern Covenants
- Canon. The authoritative CCE reading text and versification — which incorporates the full Joseph Smith Translation — and the target of every verse-level deep link in the reader.
- King James Version — LDS edition churchofjesuschrist.org
- The comparison baseline shown beside the Covenant Christian Edition in every section, and the text each column’s “KJV” button links to. The LDS edition carries only a portion of the Joseph Smith Translation — selected changes as footnotes plus a handful of longer passages in an appendix — not the complete JST, which revises roughly 3,400 verses.

- The 1938 topical compilation of Joseph Smith’s teachings. Convenient, but it modernizes the text, supplies editorial headings, and separates passages from their sources.

- An independent source-audit catalog of Joseph Smith’s teachings, writings, and attributed quotes. For each item it shows the earliest documentary source, the chain of transmission, and a provenance grade, so you can see how close a statement sits to the record. It audits the 1938 book and adds what the book leaves out; it is not that book.

Coverage
The Scripture Index tracks every gospel passage placed in the harmony — book by book, in verse order, with the section each appears on — so no verse is left out as the study grows. It is generated from the sections themselves and flags where verses are still to be set.
A note on canon
Where the Covenant Christian Edition and a JST reference differ in wording, the Covenant Christian Edition governs the reading text; the reference informs only whether a change is substantive enough to mark. Covenant Christian Edition editorial wording and modernized English are folded into the reading unmarked. The full editorial rules are on the How to Read this Edition page.
